Itinerary

  • 08:30 A.M. – Meet at Nakatsugawa Station & Transfer to Magome
    Meet your guide at Nakatsugawa Station. From there, we’ll take a short bus ride to the scenic post town of Magome, where our historical trail walk begins.

  • 09:40 A.M. – Begin the Nakasendo Trail Walk
    Embark on a picturesque trek along the Nakasendo Trail, a route once traveled by samurai and merchants. Walk through peaceful forests, gentle mountain paths, and traditional villages that evoke old Japan.

  • 11:00 A.M. – Lunch at Juri
    Take a well-earned break and enjoy Kurikomameshi, a comforting local specialty made with chestnuts and rice—simple yet deeply rooted in the region’s culinary tradition.

  • 1:00 P.M. – Isshikutachi Tachiba Chaya (Tea House Stop)
    Enjoy a cup of traditional Japanese tea at this historic resting spot, once used by weary travelers centuries ago.

  • 2:00 P.M. – Otoko-daki & Onna-daki Waterfalls
    Pause for a refreshing moment at the "Male and Female" waterfalls—twin cascades hidden in the forest, surrounded by local legends and natural serenity.

  • 3:00 P.M. – Arrive at Tsumago-juku & Return to Nakatsugawa
    Explore the beautifully preserved streets of Tsumago, one of Japan’s best examples of an Edo-period post town. At 3:30, we’ll board a local bus and train back to Nakatsugawa.

  • 4:30 P.M. – Tour Ends at Nakatsugawa Station
    We arrive back at our starting point, enriched by nature, history, and the spirit of old Japan.
